Long fibre sphagnum moss is - in my view - the best all-round growing medium for Nepenthes pitcher plants. It’s also ideal for Venus flytrap (Dionaea), Sun pitchers (Heliamphora) and a wide variety of orchids. When fully hydrated and mixed with some perlite (and optionally some orchid bark), it makes a nice airy growing medium that holds huge amounts of moisture. This encourages strong, healthy root development.
