About
Hello! My name’s Tom, and I run Tom’s Carnivores here at tomscarnivores.com.
I’ve been growing carnivorous plants for over 2 decades, having been fascinated by these plants since I got my first Venus flytrap at age 10. I now have a large greenhouse to house my personal collection. Tom’s Carnivores is my attempt to create a valuable resource for today’s growers. You can expect species profiles, cultivation advice, and articles documenting my visits to many world-famous nurseries, private collections, and botanic gardens.

🪴 How can I support the website?
If you’re interested in supporting me, you can shop at my partner nurseries. Qualifying purchases earn me a small commission:
- In the UK, I recommend Hampshire Carnivorous Plants - run by Matthew Soper, this 20+ year old nursery has the widest selection available in the UK.
- In the US, I recommend California Carnivores - use code tomscarnivores to get 10% off your order. Check out my latest interview with Damon Collingsworth here.
Alternatively, if you want to support me directly you can send me Bitcoin from anywhere in the world. This goes towards website costs, greenhouse electricity, and - if I'm lucky - more plants! Any questions, please send me an email.
📨 Can I subscribe to new posts?
If you enjoy Tom’s Carnivores and want to stay up-to-date, you can subscribe via email - you’ll receive a notification whenever I publish a new article on my blog.
You can unsubscribe with one click at any time. Your information will never be shared or sold to a 3rd party.
🔒 Do you have a privacy policy?
This website uses no cookies, trackers, or invasive advertising whatsoever. Instead I use Plausible, a lightweight and privacy-conscious analytics tool to discover how many people visit my website. All data is fully anonymous.
💬 How can I contact you?
If you’ve got a question about the website or have an idea for a new guide, you can get in touch via email. Please note that due to the huge volume of email I receive, I’m not always able to reply to questions about cultivation.
But I promise I’ll do my best. I do read every email which lands in my inbox.
